24/1/2006 - Cumbrian nursery schools launch their own websites

The six maintained nursery schools in Cumbria will be launching their very own websites on Monday 30 January 2006 at 10.30am in Kendal Nursery School, Queen’s Road, Kendal.

The nursery schools are Bram Longstaffe, Hindpool (both in Barrow), Parkview (Millom), Cleator Moor, Frizington and Kendal Nursery School (known locally as Brantfield). They have been delivering high quality nursery education to 3 and 4 year olds in Cumbria for almost 70 years – Bram Longstaffe was established in 1939 and Kendal Nursery School celebrates its 60th birthday this year.

County councillor Philip Chappelhow, cabinet spokesman for children's services said:

"These websites have been set up to raise the profile of the nursery schools as most of them become children’s centres in 2006, and to link parents and users to other relevant sites such as health services and information, Jobcentre Plus and national parenting websites. They are child friendly and include animations and activities for children. I am sure they will be extremely useful for all those who use them."

The new sites will be as follows:

www.kendalnurseryschoolbrantfield.co.uk

www.frizingtonnurseryandearlyexcellencecentre.co.uk

www.bramlongstaffechildrenscentre.co.uk

www.hindpoolnurseryschoolandchildrenscentre.co.uk

www.cleatormoornurseryschool.co.uk

www.parkviewnurseryschool.co.uk

Sites can also be accessed through www.cumbriannurseryschoolsnetwork.co.uk.   The launch will be attended by all six head teachers, the web designer and local councillors.
