Advice on what to do in the event of a fire and a whole host of other potentially life saving information is now just the click of a mouse away.
Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service's eye-catching new website (www.cumbriafire.gov.uk) provides quick and easy access to important information on how to avoid common accidents like chip-pan fires as well as details on how to arrange a free Home Safety Check.
New features on the revamped site include a regularly updated summary of the main emergencies which the county's firefighters are called out to attend each day. The list, which is linked directly to Cumbria's fire control centre, is fully searchable and includes details on the number of fire appliances dispatched and the outcome of each incident.
From time to time Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service consult with the public on a range of issues and information on how people can get involved is also available on the site.
Cumbria's Chief Fire Officer Bernard Dolan says the new site provides a handy one stop shop for people looking for information on everything from staying safe on the county's roads to finding a job with Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service. "Figures suggest that as many as two out of every three adults in Cumbria now have access to the internet either at home or at work. This new website is a valuable tool for reaching those people with useful up to date information on how to keep themselves and their families safe," he said.
Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service also operates a freephone number (0800-358-4777) which people can call to arrange a Home Safety Check and receive other useful community safety information.
