Residents in and around the St Aidan's area will be able to hear the very latest about the pilot alleygates scheme for the area at the next neighbourhood forum meeting next Wednesday (15 March 2006).
Simon O'Keefe from the Carlisle and Eden Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership will be at the meeting to provide an update on the plans for St Aidan's.
Reducing crime and the fear of crime is high on the council's list of priorities and alleygates can play an important role in parts of the city.
The forum will also feature a presentation on minimising waste and maximising recycling along with the regular opportunity to feed back any issues to either Cumbria County Council or Carlisle City Council.
The meeting will start at 7pm at Greystone Community Centre, and from 6pm officers from the Environment Agency will be staffing a display that will show residents the flood defence plans for the area, and give them an opportunity to talk about those plans.
