Keswick library is to reopen on Monday March 20th following a four-week facelift.
The library had been operating a 'skeleton service' from a drop-in centre next door to the main library, but this will be closed from tomorrow, March 15th, during the transfer back to the main library.
The new-look library is arranged over a single ground floor, meaning it is fully accessible to disabled customers. Previously the library was arranged over two floors, with a staff room and store room at the back of the ground floor. The first floor is now the staff room and store room, meaning the whole of the ground floor has been opened up to library users.
The library also has new stock of books and DVDs and will be extending its computer facilities within the next month.
"Cumbria is recognised as providing one of the best library services in the country. But we're not resting on our laurels and are always looking to review and improve the service. What we've done Keswick proves that access for all is of paramount importance to the council," said Councillor Roger Bingham, cabinet member responsible for library services.
