27/3/2006 - Safety and crime prevention on agenda at Eden Neighbourhood Forum

A discussion on safety and crime prevention in parishes will take place at the next meeting of the Vale of Eden Neighbourhood Forum on Thursday (30 March).

The meeting, which begins at 7.30pm in Lazonby village hall, will discuss crime and disorder issues in the area as well as health related subjects.

Meryl Perry, the chairman of Eden Valley Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) Forum will also be at the meeting.  She will be speaking on the role of PPIs as the voice of the public across the country, putting forward the views of communities and influencing the improvement of health services on their behalf.

Residents will also be able to find out about the work of the Great North Air Ambulance in Cumbria, and its prospects for keeping airborne in future years.

As always, the neighbourhood forum provides an opportunity for residents to inform the meeting about local projects and events or to discuss other issues.

Local County Councillor Philip Chappelhow will be chairing the meeting.  He said:

"Safety and crime prevention in parishes and the work of the Patient and Public Involvement Forum are exactly the sort of subjects that neighbourhood forums can deal with really well, as they bring the issues right down to a local level and can therefore be really relevant to the local community.

"I hope residents will take this opportunity to come along and give their views."
