Cumbria’s Fire and Rescue Service has won a prestigious national award for its commitment to keeping the county’s firefighters safe.
The service won a gold award from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents at a ceremony in Birmingham earlier this month. The Health and Safety Award is internationally recognised, with other winners on the day coming from as far afield as the Middle East.
Cumbria’s Chief Fire Officer Bernard Dolan said: “The dangers which the county’s firefighters confront everyday in the protection of others are well known. This award is a fantastic tribute to the professionalism and dedication shown by Cumbria’s Fire and Rescue Service towards the continued health and safety of our personnel.”
