27/11/2006 - Invitation to draft budget briefing

A special media briefing on Cumbria County Council’s draft budget proposals for 2007/08 will be held tomorrow (24 November).

All interested journalists are invited to attend an on-the-record briefing in the Council Leader’s office at The Courts, Carlisle at 9:00am.

The briefing will involve; Council Leader Tim Stoddard; Joan Stocker, Deputy Leader of the Council; Chief Executive Peter Stybelski, and Bob Mather, Director of Finance and Central Services.

The briefing will give journalists the chance to speak to senior figures within the council and ask questions about the council’s draft budget which will be discussed by Cabinet at its meeting on 28 November before going out for public consultation prior to final approval in February 2007.

Broadcast media will be welcome to record interviews towards the end of the briefing.

The full draft budget paper and a briefing note will be available at tomorrow’s meeting.
