Hundreds of county council staff have been pulling on their pink party clothes today as part 'Wear it Pink' day for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
In Carlisle, council employees at The Courts released 50 pink balloons into the sky. People are also being asked to donate £2 towards funding research into curing breast cancer.
The 'Wear it Pink’ campaign began in 2003 and since then it has raised £3.6 million.
Cumbria County Council's chief executive Peter Stybelski was at the launch and said: "Pink's not the most common colour in my wardrobe, but I am proudly wearing my pink tie. This day is quickly growing in the national consciousness and is a fun way to deliver a serious message. It's great that so many people in the county have taken part."
