12/4/2007 - Love books

Best-selling romantic novelist Freda Lightfoot is to visit libraries in Cumbria later this month to promote her new book That'll Be the Day.

The author, famous for period romances, historical novels and Lakeland sagas such as Lakeland Lily, Larkrigg Fell and Bobbin Girls, will be visiting Kendal and Keswick libraries on Thursday 26 April.

Freda was born in the Lancashire mill town of Oswaldtwistle but has lived in the Lake District for more than 30 years.

She cut her teeth as a novelist writing for Mills and Boon as well as magazines such as My Weekly and People's Friend before being signed by publishers, Hodder and Stoughton.

Councillor Roger Bingham, cabinet member responsible for Library Services, said: "Freda Lightfoot's books have brought joy to thousands of people. I am delighted that the county council's Library Service is giving fans the chance to talk to her about her work at these two special events."

Freda will be at:

Keswick Library from 2:00pm (contact Mary Hart for more details on 01900-325172).

Kendal Library from 7:30pm (tickets for this event cost £1 and more details can be obtained from Hester Gorman or Rose Bowerbank on 01539-773520).
