History enthusiasts in South Lakeland will be able to find out more about their heritage at a series of events to mark Local History Month in May.
A host of activities organised by Cumbria County Council at libraries next month, reflect the growing interest in local and family history.
Throughout the month, library goers will get the chance to create their own local alphabet using pictures and word to represent each letter.
A number of libraries will also be giving schoolchildren the opportunity to produce an interactive map where they can mark up local places that are important to them.
For older library users, several branches will be offering family history hunters free taster sessions on a new library internet service - Ancestry.co.uk - with the chance to uncover valuable facts about their forebears' lives and times.
Libraries will also be displaying photos from days gone by where local people can pop in and see if they can identify a relative, building or landmark.
Visitors to Ambleside and Ulverston libraries can also hear a talk by noted climber, photographer and writer Bill Birkett.
On Wednesday 9 May, Bill will be at Ulverston library where he will be talking about his book: A Year in the Life of the Duddon Valley.
The author will be visiting Ambleside library on Thursday 17 May to talk about another of his books: A Year in the Life of the Langdale Valley.
Tickets for both events, which start at 7:30pm, cost £3:00 and can be obtained from Ulverston and Ambleside libraries.
Councillor Roger Bingham, cabinet member responsible for Library Services in Cumbria, said: "South Lakeland's libraries are putting on an array of interesting events for Local History Month.
