Keswick’s Southey Street Methodist Rooms are the venue for the town’s next Community Board meeting which gets underway on Wednesday 15 August, at 7:15pm.
Keswick is one of five areas in Cumbria piloting the idea of Community Boards which are have been set up to put more power in the hands of local people. The Boards have been formed in response to the Local Government White Paper and its focus on the need to devolve more decision-making to local communities.
At its meeting tomorrow, the Board will hear a report on the Government’s consultation on nuclear power. Community Board members will also be asked to examine how they can engage more with the needs and requirements of young people in Keswick.
County councillor Elizabeth Barraclough, lead member for the Keswick Community Board, said: “This meeting is open to everyone and will consider a range of issues that are of importance to Keswick and the local community."
Community Board meetings are open to the public and everyone is welcome to attend. A copy of the agenda for the next meeting can be found at: http://www.intouch.ccc/councilmeetings/committees/documents.asp?Committee=3222&Date=15/08/2007&MeetingNo=
