Oulton Village Hall hosts the next meeting of the Wigton and District Neighbourhood Forum which gets underway on Wednesday 5 September, at 7:00pm.
The meeting is a chance for people to finalise their list of traffic and travel improvements they would like to see in the county council's Woodside and Waverton Community Travel Plan.
The plans looks at local travel needs for people living and working in communities for now and in the future.
Residents and local community groups can have their say about local travel and transport issues and work towards reducing the impact of travel on their quality of life. The plans look at all aspects of travel, including walking, cycling, public transport and the safe use of cars.
There will then be an update on the work of the North Allerdale Community Board.
North Allerdale is one of five areas in Cumbria piloting the idea of Community Boards which are have been set up to put more power in the hands of local people. The Boards have been formed in response to the Local Government White Paper's focus on the need to devolve more decision-making to local communities.
County Councillor John Crouch, who chairs the Neighbourhood Forum, will also be presenting cheques to local community groups who have been given a helping hand by the Forum and the county council's Local Committee for Allerdale.
There will also be the opportunity for groups to flag up any local information, activities, meeting dates etc.
Free Fairtrade refreshments will be available and everyone is welcome. Please call Neighbourhood Development Officer Pat Ackred on 01900-325013 if you require further information.
