11/12/2007 - Thirty-five not out

Some of the county’s council's most loyal employees will be recognised this week at a special Long Service Awards ceremony.

Everyone who has completed 35 years of service for the county council wins a Long Service Award - which is a prizechosen by the recipient worth £350 (£10 for every year's service). This year's prizes include a synthesizer, a camcorder and a digital camera.

A presentation ceremony will be held at Tullie House Museum, Carlisle tomorrow lunchtime (Thursday 13 December). There will be a photo and broadcast media opportunity at 12.00pm. The awards will be presented by the county council's Chairman Alan Toole and several council managers.

Last month, similar awards were held for 19 people in the county council’s Children's Services department. Now it is the time for all other areas of the council to be recognised.

The 14 winners this year include:

- Five roadworkers

- A laboratory manager

- One electrician

- An IT specialist
