Staff and pupils at James Rennie special school have invited members of Belah Neighbourhood Forum to a special Christingle Service tomorrow (20th December) to thank them for a £1,000 grant which will help put a lift into after-school activities.
The Belah Neighbourhood Forum Grant will be spent on 15 after-school rebound/ trampoline sessions for children with disabilities.
County Council Chairman Alan Toole, who is also County Councillor for Belah, will hand over the £1,000 cheque alongside Belah City Councillor David Morton and Belah Neighbourhood Development Officer Annette Grogan.
A photocall will be held at 2pm at the school on 20th December.
Cllr Alan Toole said:
"Neighbourhood forums are there to help put grants back into the places that matter. I can think of no more worthy recipients than the pupils of James Rennie School. After-school activities are now an extension of a pupil's everday life and we're seeing more innovative and exciting schemes cropping up all the time."
Debbie Richardson, Extended Schools Co-ordinator at James Rennie School, said:
"This event is a way of saying thank you to Belah Neighbourhood Forum for a grant that will make a real difference to our pupils. Our children really gain from these sessions - their self confidence and morale increases and it also allows parents and carers to have a bit of extra time off. It's a great early Christmas present to have and we'll look forward to holding the sessions in the New Year."
