The Liberal Democrat Party has retained the Castle seat (Carlisle) in yesterday's Cumbria County Council by-election.
The by-election, which was won by Olwyn Luckley was held following the death in December of Liberal Democrat county councillor Geoff Hodgson.
The results of yesterday's by-election were:
James Robert Bainbridge (Conservative) - 117 Lynn Juliet Bates (Green) - 29 Joseph Duncan Hendry (Labour) - 222 Olwyn Doreen Luckley (Liberal Democrat) - 653
Turnout was 25.2 per cent. The political makeup of the council remains unchanged.
