8/1/2007 - Have Your Say in Dalton

Residents and shoppers in Dalton-in-Furness will get a chance to "have a say" at a special event being held at Dalton Methodist Church on Chapel Street, between 10am and 7pm on Thursday, January 11th.

The "Have Your Say Day" has been set up by the Barrow Local Committee of Cumbria County Council to bring residents face to face with representatives from the county council, the police, Barrow Borough Council and other agencies to talk about all kinds of issues from highways and housing to policing issues and fire and rescue.

The event, funded by the Local Committee and organised by the Barrow Neighbourhood Development Unit, has been designed to allow shoppers to drop in and talk to the various agencies about issues concerning them.

Alan Nicholson, chairman of Barrow Local Committee, said: "We want as many people as we can get from Dalton and the surrounding area to come along and discuss the issues that concern them face-to-face with people from the county council, the district council and the other agencies like the police."

"It's useful being able to talk to someone in person rather than on a telephone or by letter of e-mail, so we hope lots of people will take the opportunity to drop in and raise whatever concerns they have with the relevant agency."

A £10 Debenhams voucher will be given to the 50th person to arrive at the Have Your Say Day.

A similar event was held in Barrow in the run up to Christmas and the first ever 'Have Your Say Day ' was held in Barrow in November 2002.
