9/7/2007 - Double the entertainment at Cumbrian libraries this month

Savvy library users are saving cash this month thanks to a special promotion organised by Cumbria County Council's Library Service.

Throughout July, Cumbrian library goers who hire a CD, DVD, computer game or video will get to borrow another one at no extra charge.

The summer promotion has been organised by the county council to mark twenty-five years of audio visual provision in Cumbria's libraries.

There are almost 60,000 music CDs, DVDs, computer games and videos available to borrowers in libraries across the county. The month long offer is available to all Cumbrian library members. For non-library members, joining is simple and membership is free.

Councillor Roger Bingham, cabinet member responsible for the county's Library Service, said: "This is a great way to celebrate a quarter century of audio visual borrowing in Cumbria's libraries.

"As the world has changed, so has Cumbria's Library Service. We now stock one of the county's most comprehensive collections of the best popular listening and viewing material available, alongside our constantly updated range of books and other services."
