Primary school children across the county will be tucking into mouthwatering magical healthy meals this week (from Tuesday 10 July) to celebrate the opening on Thursday of the new Harry Potter film, 'Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix'.
The event is the latest in the programme of fun and exciting 'Kids' Kitchen' lunchtime activities organised by Cumbria County Council's Premises Unit which provides school meals on behalf of the county council to a majority of primary schools in Cumbria.
The magical menu, worthy of one of Hogwarts' finest feasts, will see each child receiving a tasty meal of:
Ghoulish Goulash (meat or vegetable)
Spellcaster Cous Cous and
Slytherin Sponge with Magic Dust and Mandarins.
Every child who stays for the lunch will also receive a magical meal sticker.
Philip Chappelhow is the county council's cabinet member for Children's Services. He said:
"Schools taking the county council's school meals service are ensuring that their children are getting a healthy, balanced meal in the middle of the day - which is important, as a balanced diet has has been linked to helping children concentrate and perform better in school.
"Events like Magical Meals are a good way of encouraging both children and their parents to think about healthy eating and healthy lifestyle choices - plus it's great fun!"
