18/7/2007 - Wigton and District Neighbourhood Forum

Wigton Methodist Hall hosts the next meeting of the Wigton and District Neighbourhood Forum on Tuesday 31 July, at 6:45pm.

The meeting gets underway with a discussion on the future of Wigton Community Centre. Local residents will know that the centre was closed down some weeks ago. Town councillor Dennis Graham will lead the discussion on whether the centre has a future.

Staff and young people from Wigton Youth Station will then highlight some activities that are being planning for young people in the area.

Local people will also get the chance to hear about what the new North Allerdale Community Board pilot is doing following its first meeting last month.

North Allerdale is one of five pilot areas set up by the county council to look at how more decision making can be devolved to local people across Cumbria.

There will also be the opportunity for groups to flag up any local information, activities, meeting dates etc, as well as to see which projects are seeking funding from the Neighbourhood Forum.

Free Fairtrade refreshments will be available and everyone is welcome. Please call Neighbourhood Development Officer Pat Ackred on 01900-325013 if you require further information.
