One of Egremont's oldest residents celebrates her 100 birthday on Wednesday (25 July).
Mrs Agnes Ratcliffe, a resident of Cumbria County Council's Castle Mount residential home in Egremont, is looking forward to receiving her birthday telegram from the Queen.
Photographers are invited to attend a special afternoon tea party, which the home is putting on for Agnes, complete with a visit from the Town Crier, cake and candles at 4pm on Wednesday 25 July.
Agnes was born at Frizington, but after marrying Jack moved to Manchester. She lived through the blitz & says: "It was a time when everyone helped each other in times of trouble."
She moved to Cumbria in 1953 with her husband to carry on the family's Ratcliffe Coach, Funeral & Taxi Services. She is very proud of the fact that Ratcliffe buses are still on the road today, run by the founder's Nephew, David.
