A brand new partnership committed to improving stations and increasing use of Cumbria's coastal railway line between Barrow and Carlisle will be officially launched tomorrow, Tuesday, June 26th.
The Community Rail Partnership for the Cumbrian Coast Line will be launched at a special event Ravenglass railway station - the mid point of the line and one of the route's busiest tourist destinations.
The Community Rail Partnership brings together local authorities, rail companies, rail freight operators, rail users and other stakeholders to progress the development and improvement of the line.
Members of the media are welcome to attend at 11.30am.
A report on the current condition and usage of the line and its stations has already been produced by Cumbria County Council. This baseline report provides a detailed assessment of the route and will be used to draw up an action plan for the line.
