World champion gymnast Beth Tweddle is heading to South Lakeland to provide sporting encouragement to pupils from 52 local schools.
Beth, who was the North West Sports Personality of the Year 2006, will speak to the Lakes School and Sports College during assembly on Tuesday 13 March before heading to Kendal Leisure Centre to observe a gymnastic demonstration festival involving 43 primary schools and nine secondary schools from South Lakeland.
Her visit to Cumbria has been arranged by the South Lakes School Sport Partnership. Mark Stokes, partnership development manager said: "This is going to have a huge impact in inspiring young people to participate in gymnastics from now until the 2012 Olympics."
