Grange library is commemorating the abolition of the slave trade with a special concert.
The event, which is being in held in The Sands bar on Main Street in the town on Saturday 31 March, is the culmination of a month of events organised by Grange library to mark the 200th anniversary of the abolition of the slave trade.
The concert, called 'Unchained Melody' will feature a range of different music styles from Negro spirituals to Bob Dylan. Members of the local drama society will be giving poetry readings during the evening which will also include music from a group of African drummers.
Tickets for the event, which gets underway at 7:30pm cost £4 and are available from Grange library. All the proceeds from the event will go to Amnesty International.
The concert caps off a series of commemorative events at the library, including poetry and art competitions on the theme of slavery. For tickets, or for more information, contact Grange library on 015395-32749.
