26/3/2007 - Kendal library assistant goes into print

A Kendal library assistant who has checked out books penned by thousands of different authors will be putting down her book stamp this weekend and stepping to the other side of the counter - as a published author.

Claire McQuoid, who works as a senior library assistant for Cumbria County Council, has just published her first children's book Tilly the Giraffe and Her Amazing Escape and is holding special launch to mark the occasion in Kendal library on Saturday 31 March, at 10:00am. 

Inspiration for the book has been drawn from Claire's twin passions: walking in the Lan g dale Valley and a love of animals - especially giraffes. The book, which is also illustrated by the author, is a wonderful tale of survival, friendship and loyalty in the Cumbrian wilderness.
