Over £8,600 has been awarded to four early years groups by Cumbria County Council's local committee for Allerdale.
The cheques were presented at a recent childcare network meeting in Bolton Low Houses by Amanda Coates and Steph Smithson from the county council's Children's Service department.
- Ireby After School Club has received £500 to provide outdoor lighting and internal shelving to safely store equipment.
- The Allerdale Pre School Learning Alliance has received £6,000 to employ a Play and Stay Worker.
- Wiggonby Playgroup has received £462 to purchase community play blocks which will enhance the learning and play activities through problem solving, construction and mathematics.
- Plumbland Out of School Club has received £1,700 to support the continuation of their involvement in the Forest Schools Project in conjunction with Ash Ghyl Theatre in a neighboring village. Some of the after school activities they will now be able to provide will include African drumming sessions, theatre work, bird watching and willow weaving.
