The Windermere Ferry service will be suspended for several hours for essential maintenance tomorrow, November 8.
The morning services will stop after 9am so that engineers can replace one of the two metal cables along which the ferry runs. They will also take the opportunity to replace the ferry's drive wheels. The new cable has already been laid along the bed of the lake to help make the operation as quick and easy as possible.
Ferry services between Ferry Nab at Bowness and Ferry House at Far Sawrey are expected to return to normal by mid afternoon tomorrow, November 8.
The advance signs at Plumgarths (near Kendal), Hawkshead, Sawrey, Newby Bridge and the end of the Ferry Nab Road will advise drivers of the closure whilst the service is suspended.
Cumbria County Council apologises for any inconvenience during this necessary maintenance work.
