7/11/2007 - Cumbrian firefighters to hold minute’s silence

Firefighters in Cumbria are being asked to hold a minute’s silence as a mark of respect for colleagues who died tackling a warehouse blaze in Warwickshire at the weekend.

Cumbria’s Chief Fire Officer, Dominic Harrison is asking the county’s Fire and Rescue personnel to fall silent for one minute at 11:00am this Friday (9 November).

The county’s Chief Fire Officer explained: "The camaraderie in the Fire and Rescue Service is well known and the tragic events in Warwickshire are felt deeply throughout the service.

"A minute’s silence on Friday is an opportunity for firefighters throughout Cumbria to show how much their thoughts are with their colleagues and the families of the fallen at this time."
