Cumbria County Council is offering seasonal serenity to Cumbrian households who tire with loud jumpers and even louder children this Christmas.
An advertising campaign which gets underway this week on local radio and on buses, will remind people that they need look no further than their local library for a DVD to put the sparkle back into the long winter evenings.
Cumbria’s Library Service has some great titles to rent such as Pirates of the Caribbean 3, The Simpsons Movie and Michael Palin’s New Europe.
It only costs £2 to rent a movie for the whole week and throughout the festive season, libraries will also be holding special promotions and offers.
In addition to the DVD promotion, the county's six main libraries will be holding a free prize draw from 3 to 19 December for a luxury Christmas hamper from The Village Bakery at Melmerby.
Library goers who borrow six or more items in one go from Barrow, Carlisle, Kendal, Whitehaven, Workington or Penrith libraries can enter the free draw.
There are six hampers up for grabs - one for each library –all packed full tasty seasonal goodies such as mince pies, Christmas cake and Stollen cake.
For more information on these and other events in Cumbrian libraries over Christmas, visit the Library Service website at http://www.cumbria.gov.uk/libraries/
