Disabled people will soon be able to enjoy better access to Barrow library.
Cumbria County Council is investing in improvements to the library's main Ramsden Square entrance which will see:
. Paving stones lifted and re-laid;
. The gradient of the current wheelchair ramp changed;
. New metal railing installed down the centre and sides of the ramp.
Work on the improvements is due to start on Monday 5 November and is expected to take three weeks to complete.
During this period, access for library users will be via the building's Duke Street entrance.
Disabled entry will be through the Records Office on Hawke Street. Here, people will be able to use a special wireless bell to alert staff who will open the door to customers and help them into the library.
