Staff, pupils, Governors and parents at Kirkbampton CE Primary School are celebrating this week after Ofsted and SIAS Inspectors praised their hard work and commitment which enables the children to, "achieve very well from the moment they enter the school and make impressive gains in their personal development."
Inspectors, who visited the school in July just before the end of the Summer term, stated that Kirkbampton, "is an outstanding school with the potential to be even stronger."
HMI, Stephen Isherwood, was impressed by, "consistently strong teaching, an excellent curriculum and exceptionally high levels of care and support for individual needs" and found that, "relationships at all levels are second to none."
Catherine Barlett, SIAS, identified the established strengths of the school as:
* Individual knowledge and care for children and adults in the school.
* Vision and commitment of the head and dedication of the staff.
* Regular and effective commitment of the clergy.
Highlights of the report include:
* Children settle readily into school, are eager to learn and make excellent progress, reaching and often exceeding the nationally expected levels for their age.
* Teaching and learning is outstanding with activities well matched to children's abilities. Early identification of individual children's additional learning needs and highly effective and well delivered specialist teaching in Science and Music contributes to the excellent progress made, as does the partnership between teachers and classroom assistants.
* The school curriculum contributes significantly to pupils' enjoyment and achievement and is enriched by a variety of visits and by visitors to the school.
* Children display positive attitudes to learning and behave very well.
* Pupils personal development and spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is enhanced by the emphasis of Christian values such as honesty, respect and tolerance and by the work of the rector and curate.
Headteacher, Miss Joan Routledge, is delighted with the reports from both Ofsted and SIAS. She said: "The reports recognise and celebrate the hard work, dedication and commitment of everyone who is involved in making our school a happy and successful place to work and learn. They confirm the established strengths of the school and will help us to develop even further in the future."
Chairman of the Governors, Mr Stephen Cawley, has thanked the Headteacher, all her staff both teaching and non-teaching, the children of the school as well as the wide range of organisations and others who help and support the school. "Achieving an outstanding assessment from Ofsted is a marvellous reward for all those involved in making Kirkbampton School such a successful place for the children to learn and thrive."
