22/12/2008 - Council leader confirms nuclear expression of interest
Cumbria County Council's Leader, Cllr Stewart Young, has written to the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, Ed Miliband MP, officially expressing an interest in the the formal Government process to find a location for a deep geological nuclear waste repository in the UK.
The letter has been sent now that the official 'call-in' period has expired following a Cabinet decision taken on December 9th.
