A major recruitment fair aimed at attracting more social care recruits to Cumbria takes place this Saturday (1 March).
The second annual Care Fair is being held at Penrith’s Rheged Centre and has been organised by Cumbria County Council to highlight opportunities for a social care career in the county.
The event will give potential recruits the chance to learn more about the wide range of caring career opportunities available in Cumbria.
Colleges and universities also be attending to discuss social care courses and routes into social work.
It is hoped the event will attract new recruits to work with a wide range of clients such as young people, older people and people with physical and learning disabilities.
Councillor Bill Wearing, cabinet member for Adult Social Care in Cumbria, said: Social workers and social care staff play a vital role in every Cumbrian community.
"This recruitment fair will give potential recruits the chance to learn more about how rewarding and valuable a career in social care can be.
"As well as jobs working for the county council, the event will also provide information on the wide range of career opportunities available in the county’s independent care sector."
Councillor Jim Buchanan, cabinet member responsible for Children’s Service’s, said: "This is a great way to get more people thinking seriously about a career that is as challenging as it is rewarding."
More information on the day-long recruitment fair, including details on how to attend, can be found online at http://www.cumbria.gov.uk/careerfair/
