A Cumbria County Council employee will put the ‘law’ into ‘brother-in-law’ this week.
Superintendent Registrar Sue Oliver will be marrying her sister, Jayne Jones and her fiancé, David Moffat, at Penrith Register Office on Saturday 1 March.
Sue, who works in Kendal and has been a Registrar for 21 years, has performed thousands of civil weddings during her time at the county council but this will be the first one involving a member of her own family.
Jayne, who lives in Eden, asked her sister to perform the ceremony and Sue will be travelling up from Kendal Register Office especially for the occasion.
Speaking ahead of the family affair, Sue Oliver said: "Every wedding I’ve performed over my career has been important but this one will be the icing on the cake."
