Community groups in Allerdale are set to benefit from more than £36,000 in county council funding.
At their meeting yesterday (26 February), members of Cumbria County Council’s Local Committee for Allerdale agreed to provide grants worth £36,316 to a total of 19 worthy causes including:
* £10,000 to develop a play area at Salterbeck’s Jack and Jill pre-school;
* £2,117 to help a local youth project renovate eight garden allotments for community use in Siddick;
* £200 towards the cost of an ultrasonic bat detector and digital recorder for the Cumbria Farming & Wildlife Group.
* £1,300 to help the North Allerdale Children’s Centre provide stair-gates and other safety items to parents in the area;
Councillor Gerald Humes, chairman of the county council’s Local Committee for Allerdale, said: "These groups do some tremendous work in our communities and I am delighted that we have been able to support them in this way."
