17/3/2008 - County council arrangements for Easter 2008

Cumbria County Council will continue to provide key services over the Easter period. What follows are details of opening times, out-of-hours contacts and other relevant information.

Adult Social Care

Services will operate as usual up until 5:00pm on Thursday 20 March. The offices will re-open at 9:00am on Wednesday 26 March. During this period the out-of-hours number - 01228 526690 - can be used 24-hours a day for adult social care emergencies.

Children's Services

Community meals

We will be providing community meals over the Easter school holiday period (20 March to 7 April 2008). Meals will be provided on Bank Holidays in parts of Eden and South Lakeland.

Recycling and Rubbish

County council civic amenity sites across the county will remain open as usual throughout the bank holiday period. Please remember to recycle your Easter egg packaging. (See 'Notes' for opening times of each site.) http://www.recycleforcumbria.org/this external link will open in a new window

The Highways Hotline

The Highways Hotline (0845 6096609) is open 24 hours a day over Easter for reporting highways problems.

Crews from Cumbria Highways, the county council's highways partnership, will be on-standby throughout the Easter period to deal with any effects of severe winter weather on the county's roads.

Libraries

All libraries in Cumbria will close on Good Friday, Easter Sunday, Easter Monday and Tuesday 25 March. Normal opening hours for individual libraries will apply on Saturday 22 March and reopening Wednesday 26 March.

Transport and Travel

Public transport information is available as usual from from Traveline on 0870 608 2 608 between 7am and 8pm over the whole of the Easter period.

Media Enquiries

The Media Team is operating an emergency only service for the media between March 21 and March 25 inclusive. We will not be handling routine enquiries during this period.

Household Waste Recycling Centres will be open at the usual time - i.e. if they are usually open on a Friday, Sunday or a Monday, they will be open regardless of Easter Bank Holiday.
