Barrow library-goers will have the chance to try free holistic therapy sessions as they browse for books next Friday (30 May).
Therapists will be at the town’s Ramsden Square library as part of a special Health and Wellbeing Day, organised by Cumbria County Council.
During the day, library visitors will get the chance to sample complementary therapy sessions including Indian head massages and reflexology.
There will also be Tai Chi demonstrations, nutritional advice and the chance to get information on how to quit smoking.
The award-winning Starfish Theatre Company will be at the library during the morning to perform 'The Fantastic Fruit Show' before moving on to Forum 28 for another showing in the afternoon.
The event, which is being funded by Cumbria Primary Trust, is the latest in a series of activities arranged by the county council to mark the National Year of Reading - a national campaign designed to inspire everyone to read more.
Each month, the National Year of Reading has a different theme to inspire activities. May's theme focuses on the links between reading and health.
Councillor Gary Strong, cabinet member responsible for Cumbria's libraries, said: "Reading is a great way of empowering people to take charge of their own health and wellbeing.
"Library users will have access to specially mounted displays of books and for anyone who wanting to look after their health and well being, there will be plenty of hands-on activities, advice and information."
