24/11/2008 - Christmas comes early for Penrith book fans

Book lovers in Penrith will be in an early festive mood as they're given the opportunity to combine an evening of mulled wine and mince pies with the chance to meet a best-selling novel writer.

Marion Husband, the Tees Valley-based author and poet, is the star attraction of the event at Penrith Library at 7pm on 4th December. She has written four historical fiction novels: The Boy I Love was published in 2005 to much critical acclaim; Paper Moon was awarded the Andrea Badenoch Prize for Fiction; Say You Love Me and The Good Father followed in 2007.

Marion Husband’s novels are thought provoking, intelligent and compelling reads, which are both gripping and moving. They have been described as “the kind of novel that book clubs and anyone who likes a good story will love”.

As well as reading from her novels and signing copies of her books, Marion will talk about the inspiration behind her books, give tips on creative writing and take part in a question and answer session.

Tickets for the event are available from Penrith Library and cost £2 (which includes mulled wine and a mince pie). Members of reading groups are eligible for a discounted rate of £1.50 per ticket.
