24/4/2009 - Media opportunity: Caring to win

Cumbria County Council's Adult Social Care staff will be celebrating their achievements next week as care staff, social workers, administrative staff and managers receive NVQ awards and other qualifications.

More than 240 staff from the County Council's Adult and Cultural Services Directorate have earned NVQs in Care, Administration, Management and other awards alongside professional awards including qualifying and post qualifying level social work awards.

In most cases the presentations are the culmination of 12-18 months - or even longer - of training, study and vocational practice. The employees will receive their awards at two ceremonies being held on April 28th and May 8th.

These latest awards and qualifications are part of Cumbria County Council’s ongoing commitment to training and development.

The two ceremonies taking place are:

- 28th April 2009, Newton Rigg College, Penrith (10.30 am –12.30 pm)

- 8th May 2009, Abbey House Hotel, Barrow (10.30 am –12.30 pm)

A senior manager from the County Council's Adult and Cultural Services will be presenting certificates at each event.
