18/2/2009 - Residents' resurfacing requests granted

Cumbria Highways will soon be working to improve two roads in Kendal after listening to the concerns of residents.

Vicarage Drive will be resurfaced between Milnthorpe Road and Vicarage Park School before the end of March. The scheme could only begin once other work on the nearby college was completed.

From April, Parkside Road will also undergo resurfacing work after drainage maintenance to alleviate flooding is completed. The work will take place between the railway bridge and the cricket club.

Councillor Geoff Cook, Cumbria County Council’s local member for Kendal Highgate and chairman of the local committee for South Lakeland, said: "We listened to what residents had to say about how the roads could be improved and decided to act on what they were telling us.

"The resurfacing will bring about the improvements people want."
