23/2/2009 - Night time road repairs for Whitehaven

Essential road repairs will be taking place in the centre of Whitehaven next month.

Improvements are being made to the A5094 Tangier Street and A5094 George St/Bransty Row, which will involve three night time road closures.

The first phase of work, set to take place on March 9 for approximately one night between 10pm and 6am, will see Tangier Street closed from its junction with Duke Street to its junction with George Street for a stretch of about 130 metres, and George Street/Bransty Row closed from its junction with Tangier Street for a distance of around 50 metres in a northerly direction.

Phase two, due to go ahead on March 10 for approximately two nights between 10pm and 6am, also involves closing Tangier Street from its junction with Duke Street to its junction with George Street.

During both phases of the closures suitable diversions will be in place and access maintained for pedestrians at all times. Vehicle access to all premises will be provided where possible. 

The closures are taking place at night to cause minimum disruption to motorists.
