20/1/2009 - Kells library to close for a week from February 16

Kells library in Whitehaven will be closed for one week from February 16 to allow essential maintenance works to take place.

The library is normally open Monday 1415 - 1700; Wednesday 1415 - 1730; Thursday 1415 - 1700 and Friday 1415 - 1700 but will close for the week commencing February 16th to make improvements to its access facilities for disabled people.

A new entrance ramp is being installed and, as there is only one entrance/exit, it is necessary to close the library for the duration of the work.

The building improvement work will also involve other remedial works, including gutter replacement and rendering a wall to the rear of the building.

Kells library will revert to normal opening hours from February 23. Books can be returned or exchanged at any other library and can also be renewed online at www.cumbria.gov.uk/libraries. Nearby libraries include Daniel Hay library in Whitehaven, Hensingham library and Mirehouse library.
