Cumbria's library service has landed a major coup by persuading a best-selling international author to come to Kendal for a 'meet the author' evening next month.
And it will be an evening of shaggy dog stories, ruff ideas and pawsing for thought as the author in question is Pennsylvania's very own 'J.K.Growling', John Grogan.
Grogan penned the international best seller Marley & Me, which was all about his adorable but neurotic labrador Marley. The book spent half a year at the top of the U.S. bestseller list and has recently been made into a film starring Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson which will be released in the UK this March.
At the event, which takes place at Kendal Library on Tuesday February 10 from 7pm, he will be talking about his work, answering questions and also signing copies of his books. He recently released the follow up to Marley & Me, The Longest Trip Home, to critical acclaim. The book charts Grogan's upbringing in a devout Catholic family in 1960s Detroit.
Tickets for the event are available from Kendal Library –the £2 entry charge includes a glass of wine/fruit juice and nibbles.
