18/5/2009 - Adult Learners' Week 2009: Individual award winner

51 year old former soldier Andrew, of Lound Road, Kendal, nominated by Stonham social support organisation, successfully passed a BTEC course in Art and Design and has since staged two exhibitions of his work to raise money for Stonham and the Royal British Legion.

"Learning has meant everything to me. It gives me an identity, a role in life. It gives me the chance to realise that it does not matter where you are in life you can still move forward," said Andrew.
