Cumbria Fire and Rescue service will re-inforce fire safety messages to householders in Workington in response to the damage to local infrastructure caused by the recent devastating floods.
Firefighters will be holding a Fire Safe event in Northside in Workington on 2nd December and will be available from 9.30am until 4.30. Approximately 12 fire service personnel will be working out of the local community centre and visiting homes across the Northside area, conducting free home safety checks, fitting free smoke alarms, and providing advice to householders. Any residents wishing for a home safety check will have the opportunity to book a referral.
In order to best protect residents at this time, the Fire and Rescue Service will be working in close partnership with other agencies, particularly Derwent and Solway Housing Association.
This event is the first in a series in the Workington area designed to ensure residents of this flood-hit area remain safe from the risk of fire.
