30/10/2009 - Chairman's Civic Service

Chairman of Cumbria County Council Roger Bingham is hosting a service at St Peter’s Church in Heversham on Sunday (November 1).

The civic dignitaries will gather for a photograph at 2.45 pm prior to a procession into the church (see attached for order of procession), followed by the service itself at 3pm.

The procession, welcome and introduction will be led by the Rev Sue Wilson, priest in charge of Heversham and Milnthorpe and an address given by The Venerable George Howe, Archdeacon of Westmorland and Furness.

Councillor Bingham, a long-serving Church of England lay preacher who is licensed to Heversham Church is giving a reading, as is the Rev Gary Ridley, Methodist Minister of Arnside, Milnthorpe and Levens.

Prayers are being led by Father David Burns, from Christ the King, Milnthorpe and Our Lady, Arnside.

Guests at the service, who will take part in the procession, include Lord-Lieutenant of Cumbria James Cropper, High Sheriff of Cumbria Susan Thornely and various local dignitaries from around the county and out of county.
