29/9/2009 - Get on board our fostering campaign

A campaign to recruit more foster carers in Cumbria is being driven forward - on buses around the county.

Sixteen Stagecoach buses are carrying full size advertisements showing someone sticking to the back of a bus and asking whether you have 'stickability.'

That's the word used by one Cumbrian foster carer to describe the most important quality needed to be a successful carer - meaning the ability to stick with a child through thick and thin.

You can see one of the adverts being 'stuck' on a bus at the Stagecoach depot, Site 20, Willow Holme Industrial Estate, Carlisle, CA2 5RT, from 1000 - 10:30 Thursday 1st October.

A senior county councillor will join a Cumbrian foster carer and members of the county council's fostering team getting stuck in for stickability.

Media are invited to attend for photographs and interviews.

There are currently around 250 foster families in Cumbria and forty young people needing placements.
