Elections to help shape the future for young people in Carlisle take place on Wednesday 17 March.
Seven schools make up the Carlisle Joint Schools Council.
On Wednesday students representing all seven schools meet in the council chamber at Carlisle's Civic Centre to cast their votes to elect new council members.
Carlisle Mayor, Cllr William Graham, will officiate to ensure the correct electoral procedures are adhered to.
The seven schools taking part are Caldew School, Richard Rose Central Academy, Richard Rose Morton Academy, Newman Catholic School, Trinity School, William Howard School and James Rennie School.
Each will nominate a single pupil to be on the council executive and they will be backed up by a member of staff and two further pupils from each of the seven schools.
They will also vote for the post of vice chair, secretary, press officer, communications officer and treasurer.
The chair of the council will be Andy Glendinning, a pupil at Trinity School.
The council, which is a joint initiative between Cumbria County Council and Carlisle City Council, debates what's important for them and how schools can work together to achieve the best outcomes for young people.
The idea for the joint council, which is in its third year, came after young people in the area said there were a lot of good ideas being put forward by their individual school councils but there was no way to bring all those ideas together and enable the young people to talk to each other.
Cllr Duncan Fairbairn, Cumbria County Council's cabinet member responsible for schools and learning, said:
"The Carlisle Joint Schools Council is proving a great success with plenty of creative ideas and solutions from the students on a wide variety of matters which affect them directly.
Cllr Barry Earp, Carlisle City Council's Portfolio Holder for Performance and Development, said:
"The council has provided a great opportunity to bring together pupils from secondary schools across Carlisle to work on issues that directly impact on young people."
