Cumbria County Council has appointed a new assistant director for social care in Adult and Local Services.

Amanda Evans has moved to the position to replace Graham Hodkinson who has relocated to Wirral Borough Council. Amanda was previously county manager for social care and has worked for the county council since 1994. She trained as an occupational therapist and was also previously county manager for learning disabilities.

Amanda said: "I am delighted to be offered this opportunity in adult social care. We’ll continue to move forward to deliver high quality services to vulnerable people and build on Graham’s work and the achievements of the directorate’s management team."

Cllr James Airey, Cabinet member for adult and community services, said: “We’re delighted to be in a position to recruit an assistant director of Amanda’s calibre which ensures continuity through the directorate.

“She brings a wealth of experience in adult social care and management and I know she’s looking forward to continuing to work with staff and managers to tackle the challenges we may face in the coming months and years.”
