How we are rated
The Comprehensive Area Assessment was the national assessment on councils setting out their performance. The inspection regime was scrapped by the coalition government in June 2010.

Comprehensive Area Assessment for Cumbria 2009
The Area Assessment for Cumbria achieved one green flag for Tackling worklessness in Barrow in Furness. A Green flag indicates exceptional performance or innovation that other organisations can learn from.
Organisational Assessment For Cumbria County Council 2009
The CAA Organisational Assessment reported on December 2009 that overall in 2008/09 Cumbria County Council "performed adequately".

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) is charged with providing an Annual Performance rating for the Adult Social Care services within each local authority. In December 2010 Adult Social Care services in Cumbria County Council was rated as "performs well".
