Submitting an Application

Bowness on Solway School

The County Council welcomes applicants to discuss proposals with the Development Control Team prior to the submission of planning applications.  This can enable important issues to be identified at an early stage and reduce the risk of applicants incurring significant expense in pursuing proposals which have no realistic chance of receiving planning permission.

Applicants and/or agents can submit planning applications online via this website (please see link below).  This includes being able to fill in the application form online; attach drawings and documents; and pay the planning application fee through our secure payment engine. We aim to send an electronic acknowledgement of receipt of online applications within one working day and aim to confirm the validity or rejection of applications submitted online within 5 working days.

Alternatively you may use the online facility to download application forms and submit them in paper form to: - Development Control, Environment Unit, Cumbria County Council, County Offices, Kendal, Cumbria, LA9 4RQ.
